Building Works

Update on Sacristy Renovation: The demolition work has been completed and the brickwork will have been finished by August 15. The next step will be to complete the roof in both the sacristy and the organ gallery and this should be completed by 21 August. Once the roof is complete, the interior joinery and other work can start. The project is on track and we hope to have it completed by 27 September, the day Confirmation is being celebrated in the parish.

Tabernacle

A message from Br Stephen Sweetman from the Patrician Brothers dated 4 August 2009:

A while ago your parish donated a tabernacle to us for use in Laingim, Papua New Guinea. It's taken a while but it has arrived.

The tabernacles were, as far as I know, personally delivered in the end by both our Superior General, Br Jerome Ellens, visiting PNG from Ireland, and our Vicar General, Br Peter Ryan, who lives in PNG. It caused great excitement as is evident in the attached photo. More details may come later about its final resting place.

Very best wishes, and thank you and your parish for your generosity. You have made several hundred Catholics in a very remote village in Papua New Guinea very happy. No doubt when they look at the tabernacle in prayer they will think of the people of St Joseph's, Oatley.
